First new year's resolution down the drain...

Geen nagellak kopen tot de zomer. Klonk redelijk haalbaar, maar helaas!
Not buying any nailpolish until summer: sounded reasonably doable. Alas: epic fail!

My guilty pleasure: a four-piece set liquid sand mini nail lacquers from O.P.I.'s Mariah Carey Collection.

I plead guilty, however there are some mitigating circumstances.

1) Geen voorbedachtheid // No premeditation

Integendeel!

On the contrary! Mariah Carey of all people! I utterly dislike her music, (lack of) style and personality. None of the colours really appealed to me, except for the shimmery copper 'Sprung' and 'Anti-Bleak' maybe. Given my new year's resolution, I firmly decided I was going to sit this one out - I would do Polishaholics Anonymous proud!

2) Liquid sand, zeg ik u! // Liquid sand I tell you!

As you probably know, half the collection consists of liquid sand polishes: a nift textured nail polish. Being a pretty curious person, such a novelty was hard to resist. Despite not loving the colours, I wanted to try out the liquid sand polishes for myself.

3) Mini, zeg ik u! // Mini I tell you!

I ended up getting a set with a miniature bottle of each liquid sand nail lacquer. Hardly a crime right?

Genoeg geluld en testen maar. De kleuren:
  • Get You Number (bright blue)
  • Can't Let Go (purple)
  • The Impossible
  • Stay The Night (black with red glints)

Laat goed drogen (zeker 15 minuten).

'Stay the Night' is likely to become my favourite. In some swatches on the internet it looks like some sort of volcanic rock. Apply a basecoat and two coats of liquid sand. Leave to dry for about 15 minutes.

It does have a sandy-feel to it. Definitely a special look. With a topcoat the colour looks deeper, but the sandy effect is gone. I do suspect this liquid sand will be pretty hard to remove.

What do you think of this new textured polishes from OPI? Will you give it a try?
