Boots by La Botte Gardiane!

Ik spotte deze beauties twee weken geleden in de Brusselse shop Privejoke en was meteen verkocht. De laarzen van La Botte Gardiane worden volledig handgemaakt in Frankrijk. Volgens onheilspellende berichten zou Frankrijk het volgende land zijn waar de eurocrisis hard zal toeslaan. Aldus besloot ik -als ware altruïst- meteen mijn steentje bij te dragen tot redding van de Franse economie. Ik hoor het vriendje al meewarig iets mompelen à la 'alle redenen zijn goed zeker?'. Reken maar van yes, bovendien was ik al lang op zoek naar nieuwe cognackleurige laarsjes.

I saw these babies at Brussels' Privejoke two weeks ago, and instantly fell in love. La Botte Gardiane boots are all entirely handmade in France. Reportedly France will be the next country to be hit hard by the euro crisis, so I decided to do my part in supporting the French economy. Aside from this obviously very legitimate and selfless motive, I had been looking for a new pair of camel boots for a while.

Mijn trouwe Uggs buiten beschouwing gelaten, koop ik zelden laarzen zonder hak. Ik zag mezelf  dan ook al op eindeloze shoppingtochten door de stad met deze handgemaakte babies.  Immers: platte laarzen = supercomfortabel, toch? Not!
 

Apart from my beloved Uggs, I rarely buy boots without a heel. I already saw myself going on endless shopping trips troughout the city with these booties. After all: flat bloots equals super comfortable, right? Not quite...
 

Nieuwe shoes? Meteen dragen naar het werk natuurlijk, dat spreekt. Ik was nog maar enkele tientallen meters ver of ik werd reeds een onaangename hielsensatie gewaar. Het zou een lange en pijnlijke maandag worden, dat stond vast! De terugtocht s'avonds was een ware marteling. Het honderdtal meters van de metrohalte naar huis overbrugde ik even snel als de doorsnee honderjarige. Een beetje mank lopend ook (dat maakte het nog enigszins draaglijk). Uiterst elegant allemaal, dat verzeker ik u!
 

New shoes? Those have to be worn to go to work immediately, off course. After just a couple steps I experienced a rather unpleasant sensation in the heel area. This was going to be a long and painful Monday... By the end of the day my feet were absolutely killing me! The short distance from the subway station to my home was utter torture. I was limping away at the pace of an average centenarian. All very elegant, I can assure you! 

 

Toen besloot mijn Iphone er nog een schepje bovenop te doen met zijn uitermate geslaagde nummerkeuzes. "I would walk 500 miles" van The Proclaimers. Seriously? Ik houd niet van technologische gadgets met gevoel voor ironie, dus forwarde ik kordaat. En daar was ze dan... I kid you not: Jessica Simpson met "These boots are made for walkin'"... (en laat ik u niet horen over bedenkelijke muzieksmaak van mijentwege!)
 

Then my Iphone decided to bluntly mock me with some pretty interesting song choices. "I would walk 500 miles" by The Proclaimers. Seriously? I don't like technology going all ironic on me, so I swiftly forwarded the song. And there she was... I kid you not: Jessica Simpson with "These boots are made for walkin'"... (and I don't wanna hear anything about my questionable taste in music!) 
 

Hopelijk is het een kwestie van inlopen, anders kunnen die Fransen hun plan trekken met hun economie! Neen, neen, ik geef voorlopig niet op! ;)

I hope they just need some getting used to, otherwise screw the French and their economy!

No, I won't give up on these booties just yet!
